Life- a Miry Pit

UV 744/10,000 Life –a waterless, miry pit He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. Psalm 40 v 2 We are intended by the Lord to be like a lotus. The lotus rises out of the miry clay and is literally outstanding in its beauty in sharp contrast to the slimy pond in which it grows. The roots of the lotus descends into the slime and mud and filters its nutrients out of that very same clay. Our lives are arranged by the Lord like the petals of a flower, layer by layer. There is a physical layer, followed by an emotional layer, an intellectual layer, a spiritual layer and the layers do touch and overlap each other. The miry clay of the world’s systems and thoughts try to keep us mired or trapped. Life without the Word of God is like a miry pit without water. The thing about such a pit is that by our own efforts we cannot bring ourselves out of a miry pit. The mire holds us back and the depth of the pit and the steep walls keeps us from escaping. But as we admire the Lord, He will bring us out of the horrible pit of life. Joseph was thrown in a pit by his conspiring brothers. Jesus Himself was trapped inside the pit of a lonely, dismal grave, left by His accusers and prosecutors to rot therein. It was a rich man’s grave, yet it remained a horrible pit. That pit could not hold Him captive forever or even for a week. The Lord God brought Him out of the horrible pit, out of the dirt and mud and set His feet firmly upon the rock. The true and prophetic words of advice of Jeremiah to surrender to the Babylonian army annoyed the officials of King Zedekiah. Jeremiah the prophet was thrown into a dungeon in which there was no water but only mire. He was left to die a horrible death and rot in the underground prison. But, Ebedmelech the Ethiopian appealed to the king. The king gave him a troop of thirty men to pull him out. Ebedmelech threw down old rags and worn out clothes to be used by Jeremiah as a soft pad to be placed in his arm pits over the ropes. Our good deeds being like dirty old rags will serve this purpose of acting as a softening pad when we are pulled out of the miry pit by the Lord. Jeremiah again warned the King Zedekiah to surrender but the latter did not heed the advice. In the end, Zedekiah was taken captive, blinded and left in a miry pit. Once the Lord redeems our life from the pit, the bottomless pit being an euphemism for hell, He will establish our being, our doing and our having. He will be with us in whatever is going on in our lives. He will secure, stabilize, protect, provide and promote us like a structure that is built on rock. We need to combine in ourselves the softness and grace of a flower, the detachment of a lotus in the miry clay and the strength, steadfastness, stability of a rock. The Lord will send troops of people and angels to our aid and assistance as he raised up Ebedmelech to pull out Jeremiah. The other day I was wondering how my body floated soon after I drowned to death in the sea when it should have remained sunken for a day or so. The Lord revealed that He had sent an angel to make me float so that the Superintendent of Police noticed my floating body and pulled me out. This uni-verse was revealed to confirm that He had established my survival, my triumph and my salvation. Prateep V Philip Listen to this Blessong: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FTjXGv9oDI
