The Power of Joshua

The Power of Joshua And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel. Joshua 10 v 14 Each day with Jesus is better than the day before. There was no day like that before and no day like that after. It can be unique if we exercise our faith like Joshua. Joshua spoke to the sun and the moon to be still over the valley of Gibeon where the Israelites were entrenched in battle against their enemies, the Amorites. Scripture records that the sun stood still over Gibeon and the moon over Ajalon. The Lord had heard the voice of a man and stopped the heavenly bodies in its tracks for a full day. It gave the Israelites enough time to defeat the Amorites. Men may puzzle over how the sun and moon stopped in its tracks: It is the earth that moves around the sun. So whether the sun staying still implied that the earth had stopped in its diurnal rotation around on its axis? Suffice it to know that nothing is impossible for God. He hears the voice of the faithful and responds in miraculous ways. Our days should be full of such miraculous, the marvellous, the wonderful, incomprehensible, exciting signs and wonders. Once in June 1994, I started praying, “ Lord if by faith we can move mountains, then by faith we can throw a star out of orbit.” So I started praying in this manner and the Lord surprised me for a few days later, the front page of newspapers announced that a new comet was seen that plunged into the largest planet Jupiter. God even hears our “crazy” prayers. Later on the Lord confirmed in a prophetic word that I have given you and your family “the power of Joshua.” It does not mean all of us start praying in this manner and throw the astronomical calendar into disarray but what it means is that the Lord clothes us with His power to fulfil His will for our lives. The Lord had created time literally for the Israelites to come into their inheritance and to fulfil His purpose. Similarly, the Lord will add days to our timeline to fulfil His purpose for our lives. He will fight for us as He fought for Israel. What is impossible for us is child’s play for the Lord. It is amazing that the Lord delights in hearing our voices and listening to our prayers. Last evening in a time of prayer, the Lord said that we should pray after we read His Word. If we do not read His Word and understand His purpose, our prayers will be an abomination in His ears. He advised us, “Talk less and read more. Talk less and pray more.” When we pray in this manner, He invests us with the power of Joshua. Joshua had been invested with such power that he does not pray to the Lord but he directly speaks to the sun and moon. The source of such confidence and power was that he studied the Word of God diligently and did not swerve to the left or to the right. He did not neglect to do that which the Lord had instructed through His Word. He was an even more faithful and obedient instrument than even Moses, the greatest of the Old Testament patriarcs. When we are faithful, we become the extended arm of God. It is a mind-boggling thought and an awesome truth. Prateep v Philip
