Nehemiah 4 v 17 The WWW principle
Neh 4:17 They which builded on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon.
Each of us is a builder and a soldier in God’s kingdom. With one hand we must do our work, the professions or our official responsibilities. With the other hand, we must gird ourselves or protect ourselves with the Sword of the Word of God. The Word is a powerful and effectual weapon for it pierces the places which no sword of steel can- the deepest core of both the user and the listener. Though it is not made of stainless steel, it will keep our souls stainless and steel us to fight great resistance and and aggression. It will help both in our building and in our soldiering. God’s Kingdom is built like a wall, brick by brick, one life by one life. Each of us have our own burdens or responsibilies to carry. Instead of being weighed down by these burdens, we must joyfully do our work with one hand and be prepared to fight with the sword in the other. We do not slay people in the flesh but we “pray and slay” in the spirit. There is nothing in the enemy’s arsenal to match the weapon of offence and defense in our hands for that little stance we take in faith will move the array of forces of God to act and fight on our behalf and at our behest. He will fight our battles for us but we are expected to carry our burdens, carry our own swords and do our own work.
If we look at the root of the words, “ Word, work, worship, worth” the common root is “ wor” indicating there is a commonality underlying each of these.
Perhaps, the spiritual and holistic equation should read :
Word+Work+Worship=worth.
The Word will enable us to know our Commander in Chief, Jesus Christ who commands all the awesome forces and armies of heaven, who comes riding on a white horse, with a sword from His mouth, slaying the Adversary of our souls. Our work itself is an act of worship of the Living God, who is both a chief Partner and the purpose of our work. Psalm 149 states that it is the glory of His saints to praise and worship God with our mouths, to carry a double-edged sword in our hands, to execute judgement on the nations and peoples, to bind kings with fetters and the nobles with shackles of iron, to carry out the sentence written against them.
The Word will also give us guidelines for our work. The Word will equip us for our work. The work of our hands will be blessed in accordance with the Word. Our net worth in the sight of God and man will increase. We become worthy in His sight and He will call us “ good and faithful workers.” We can then confess like Paul, “ I have run the good race, I have fought the good fight.”

The four-fold Office of God
Uni-verse 292-10,000 The four-fold office of the Lord Isaiah 33 v 22
Isa 33:22 For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.
God is our government. In that sense,we are all government servants. Government anywhere consists of legislator or lawgiver, executive and judiciary. God is not only legislator, executive in His Kingly office and judge but He is also Saviour through the person of Jesus. In His role as King, He is with us as a mighty warrior. Our movement through our life on earth is less like a pilgrim’s progress and more like the Israelites’ journey towards the promised land through the wilderness and combating and overcoming natural barriers, foes and enemies. In His first three functions or offices, He is absolutely righteous or holy. In His fourth office as Saviour, He is absolutely forgiving and gracious. In His role as Saviour, Jesus has been the sacrificial lamb that has absolved us. In this role, He is also our High Priest before God, our Advocate on record, our intercessor.
When we accept God as our lawgiver, we will give priority to His Word in our life. We will realize that His Word enshrines the very principles of the moral and spiritual universe and abide by it. When we accept God as our King, we will respect His sovereign will. We will know that He will be as a warrior in our midst who will not let our enemies triumph over us. As far as earthly rulers are concerned, God is both the king-maker and “king-breaker”. When we accept God as our Judge, we will seek justice from Him and be fearful of His judgements on our unrighteous acts. When we accept God as our Saviour, we accept His mercy, forgiveness and love.
When we accept willingly and wholeheartedly, the significance of the four fold offices of God in our lives, He becomes our song, our strength, our light, our fortress and our salvation. He becomes the cause and the source of our joy, the focus of our lives. We will avail of His mercy and wait for His righteous judgements. More than any human court of justice, we will depend on Him to vindicate us. We will trust in His ability and willingness to protect and save us.

Be a warrior, not a worrier
Jdg 6:12 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.
Gideon was fearful and apprehensive of the Midianites. So much so, he hid the barley for fear of the raiding Midianites. Yet the angel of the Lord hailed him as a mighty man of valour. Likewise, Jesus called Peter the rock even though he was so fearful that he denied His Master thrice. The Lord sees our potential in Him and speaks words of affirmation. He knows our human failings and our fears but an assurance of His presence with the faithful is sufficient to drive it all away. We are called to be warriors and not worriers.
The Lord Himself is with us as a mighty warrior. He deals with our formidable foes and enemies in His inimitable way. Often, He lets them fight among themselves and bring destruction upon their heads. Sometimes, like an expert judoko He turns their own force and strength of the opponents against themselves.
The other day in a time of prophetic prayer, the Lord revealed, “ Only I know the ways in which I have protected you and led you this far.” Our role is just to believe, trust the Lord and take a stand. He does the rest and manifests the grace and power of Jehovah Nisi, the God who gives victory. Gideon was a farmer turned warrior. We too must combine the patience and endurance of a farmer with the courage, strength, strategizing ability and vigour of a soldier. We must combine the ability to wait for a long time for the seeds to germinate and grow with the ability to strike swiftly.
