From Mystery to Mastery

That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

Colossians 2 v 2

When we understand the mystery of God, we begin to understand the mystery of life and develop a mastery over it. The understanding of who God really is, of the Father’s love for His creation, of the mission of Christ, the wisdom of Christ will enrich our life and fill it with assurance or hope, satisfaction, security and joy.
The gospel presents God in a nutshell so that every human being regardless of his or her intellectual attainments or qualities can comprehend. We need to comprehend the mystery of God and apprehend His blessings. The gospel shows us the love of God, the Father, in giving up His Son to be Messiah for all humanity. It reveals the power of God in His life, death and resurrection. It manifests the goodness and holiness of the Father and the Son. It proves the grace and comfort that we receive from the Holy Spirit.
Understanding the love, character, power and grace of Godhead, the Trinity comforts and strengthens our hearts and knits us together in love in one body of faith. The reality and truth of God will now manifest in our lives in terms of love, holiness, power and grace. Our understanding grows with our experience of the manifestations of God’s love, power and grace in our personal lives. I once wrote these lines, “Gospel-go spell it out, in the way we live, Don’t talk of hell, No need to yell.” Our faith will fill us with a quiet assurance and hope.
