Rock Foundation and Super Structure of Salvation

UV 4189/10000 Rock Foundation and Super Structure of Salvation But you, beloved, build your self up on the foundation of your most holy faith, ( continually progress, rise like an edifice, higher and higher), pray in the Holy Spirit. Jude 1 v 20 Faith, in this uni-verse, is called as the foundation. Our faith resting on the rock of Jesus rises like a lighthouse for all the world to take light from and find their path back to God. We should keep growing in Christ so that more and more people threatened with ship wreck of their lives see His light in us and turn to Him in hope and faith. We need to continually intake His word ( which is His light) and pray fervently in the spirit so that our growth is steadfast. Our faith is both holy and holistic affecting all parts or all aspects and areas of our lives. A lighthouse is built of solid blocks of stone so that it can withstand any storm in the ocean. Likewise, we are to built up as an edifice that endures any storm. The stone blocks are a metaphor for our natural strength while the rock on which the lighthouse rests is our faith in Jesus, the Conqueror of both sin and death. The rock foundation is our source of spiritual strength. Unlike a lighthouse that is static and does not grow, we are to constantly learn from Jesus, from the Holy Spirit. The reference to “holy faith” is to the fact that in addition to faith, we as believers and followers of Jesus need to cooperate with the Holy Spirit and grow in our knowledge of the word, grow in love, grow in strength and hope. Growth implies both sanctification and edification. We are justified by faith but sanctification and edification are essential for our spiritual growth and fruit bearing. God purposed to save us through our faith in Christ but we should purpose in our hearts to grow to the very limit of our potential. We are to lower ourselves more and more before God in humbling ourselves but we should grow higher and higher in fulfilling the purpose for which God has called us.
