Winners not Sinners
UV 643/10,000 Winners not Sinners
“He will again have compassion on us, and will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.”
Micah 7 v 19
The Word of God uses two metaphors to illustrate our separation from being governed by the law of sin and death. The first is that He has removed our sin as far as the East is from the West. The second is that He has cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. But as my spiritual mentor used to say, “ sin is like an iceberg: 1/10th would be seen on the surface and the rest would lie below.” We need to seek the grace of God to subdue our iniquities or our sinful nature. We need to chip at it, bit by bit till it is fully dissolved.
Satan and sin have no jurisdiction over us. We are declared winners by the Lord –not sinners. Whatever remains of the residue of sin like dead habit will be defeated. While we make sincere efforts and resolve ourselves to do so, the Lord will show compassion upon us. When satan accuses us for that is his vocation, we should reply, “ I am not a sinner. I am a winner by the blood of the Lamb. I may not be perfect but the Lord has declared me to be perfect by faith and grace. The payment has been made. The collective weight of sin is now at the bottom of the sea. Go looking for it there.”
Life on earth Is now a “tea party”: TEA- a combination of winning thoughts, winning emotions and winning attitudes that together form a winning habit. This tea party is the curtain raiser for the Lamb’s Banquet in Heaven. That is why, the Psalmist in the Old Testament and St Paul in the New Testament kept saying, “ Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say, Rejoice.” We rejoice not on account of winning but as the Lord has subdued or defeated our sins and has declared us winners.
