UV 1142/10,000 The Lord Delights in Surprises
Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.
Habakuk 1 v 5
The Lord often does not tell us ahead of what He is going to do in our lives and with our lives for the simple reason that we would not believe it could happen. When we look back, we see the miracles the Lord has done in each of our lives. But it is doubtful we would have even believed that it could happen if we were told in advance. Now we can look back with wonder and thank the Lord for the miracles-the things we never expected, imagined or asked for.
Some cousins of mine are planning to visit their parents by surprise to wish and celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. Like all of us like to give our loved ones, the Lord likes to give us surprises. The Lord God who brought the stars and heavenly bodies into being in the twinkle of an eye can easily cause many amazing things to happen in our lives in just a flash. But He prefers to work it through a process, sometimes long drawn and stretching over many days if not years in order to build our faith and character of patience and perseverance. He delights in giving us surprises that we will remember forever.
The Lord does wonderful and marvellous things in our lives not secretly or in hiding but openly and in the midst of the unbelievers. He prepares a feast for us in the presence of people who do not share our enthusiasm for the Lord as a testimony to them. If you have not received the fulfilment of such a promise, you can go and ask the Lord, “ Where is my miracle?” that You promised in this uni-verse. Once we receive the miracle, we must no longer disbelieve in the endless possibilities in the realm of the spiritual and the supernatural that the Lord sets in motion but we need to be thankful and worship the Lord with a sense of awe.
