ContinualLeadership

UV 1123/10,000 Continual Leadership
And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones; and thou shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

Isaiah 58 v 11

The Lord undertakes to guide the faithful continually, all our days and lives, till our dying day. The word “guidance” implies that it is not coercive, that we need to opt consciously to listen to the Lord’s voice, heed and understand His wise counsel and to decide to act accordingly as well as to act or execute His directions. He will lead us beside green pastures or in short, He will lead us into good prospects. He will lead us to still waters or times of quiet, deep and enriching rest and reflection. Our lives will not be all strife or “all sound and fury, signifying nothing.” We will not lead vain, empty or meaningless lives. We will lack no good thing for the Lord will supply all our need according to the generous measure of His abundant riches. The Lord knows what we need, howmuch and when we need it more than we ourselves will ever know. He even allows testing times of drought so that our roots and branches become longer, stronger and more resistant. The deepest satisfaction and fulfilment a man can find is in knowing God more and more personally and more intimately.

As we depend on the Lord for the satisfaction of our souls, He will make our souls “fat” or faithful, available to the Lord and teachable. In so doing, we will flourish and be fruitful. We will prosper even in times of apparent famine or drought. Even when conditions do not seem congenial or favourable to us, He will cause us to prosper. We will be like a fenced and watered garden. We will be people who are taken good care of by the Lord. Even our bones and bodies will be unusually vigorous and strong. Since we have watered others, He will water us day and night. He will provide for us while we are sleeping and resting, unaware of the amazing provisions He is making for us. We will be fruitful well into old age and bear a variety of fruits for the glory of God. When people expect us to dry up, we will be still green and flourishing. He knows our frame, our bones and the condition of the health of all our organs far better than any physician or doctor.

A river can dry up but a spring of water never dries. Recent discoveries show the source of such perennial water lies deep within the earth’s crust, that there are huge reservoirs of water held in a different form far below the earth’s crust that is equal to three times the quantity of water of the oceans of the earth. The waters of the Lord run eternal and will always refresh us.
