Excellency

UV 1122/10,000 Eternal Excellency

Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations.
Isaiah 60 v 15

Though many may hate or despise us and look down upon us, the Lord promises to make us an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations. Our legacy will be an enduring and glorious one. Many people try to achieve excellence in different domains and a few achieve it but to become an eternal excellency and a source of joy for many generations is something only the Lord can accomplish. Usually both excellence and joy have an expiry date but the excellence and joy the Lord calls His beloved into is eternal and enduring. Abraham by His faith is an eternal excellency as well as a joy of many generations- his outstanding faith that enabled him to offer as a sacrifice his only begotten son of promise shines as a foreshadow of what the Lord God Himself was about to do in human history for the salvation of all generations. There are not any before Abraham or after him who was willing to attempt such a sacrifice. Similarly, our faith and its expression should be an unique testament.

In order to be an eternal excellency, we should not look to natural or human sources for illumination but to the Lord whose everlasting light and eternal Word will guide us step by step into His eternal and magnificent glory. The Lord is a force multiplier- the smallest of us will be like a thousand in terms of impact and greatness. Where people despised us for our apparent weakness, our lack of external glamour or prestige, they will now see the ineffable brightness of God shining through every pore and aspect of our lives. Those that despised us will bow at our feet. He will make our enemy the footstool for our rise. The Lord God’s sacrifice of His only begotten Son Jesus is what enables us to be an eternal excellency and a joy of many generations.

Our walls shall be called salvation. A wall is made of up of thousands of bricks. The things we think, say and do for the glory of God will constitute the bricks of salvation. It will help to save people from eternal death and be the cause of rejoicing of many. It will strengthen many and enable them to walk in faith and in the strength of the Lord. Our gates shall be called Praise. Our words and deeds will cause the entrance of praise and worship of the Lord God into the lives of many people. Our work of faith will outlive us and inspire people in coming generations. It will bring solace, encouragement and strength to succeeding generations of people.
