Deliverance and Preservation
UV 471/10,000 Deliverance and Preservation 2 Timothy 4 v 18
2Ti 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
This uni-verse holds out a wonderful promise to each one of us that the Lord shall on the one hand deliver us from every evil work and on the other, He will preserve us until His kingdom came. The Lord delivers us from evil from within us as well as evil from without. He preserves us from dangers, tempations, threats and other perils. The use of the word, “ every “ implies nothing, absolutely nothing can thwart the power of God. He sees and knows well in advance every possible angle from which a threat can emanate and He neutralizes it without even our knowing or He turns it into a testimony for His glory in which case, we are conscious of His intervention. He will preserve us unto His heavenly kingdom- this implies that the Lord makes it His responsibility to preserve His sheep till we leave our earthly bodies and enter His heavenly abode. The image drawn is one of the Good Shepherd who stands guard day and night over His sheep.
As long as the Lord’s presence is with us, His glory or greatness in the manifestations of His presence will not depart from us. The Lord manifests His greatness in His Word and in His deeds. He teaches us, warns us, exhorts us, encourages us through His Word. He can also do a physical act of delivering us from our mortal enemies. The verse concludes with “ Amen” indicating that we should surrender our wills into His hands and pray that His will alone be done.
No weapon or word can prosper against us. It is interesting to note that the Lord equates the power of a weapon with the power of the word spoken or written against us. No enemy however formidable or powerful, visible or invisible, known or unknown can triumph over us as we walk in faith.
