360 Degree Success and Prosperity

When the Lord is with us, He will make us prosper in all that we put our hand to. This was the experience of Joseph and before him, that of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob. After him it was the experience of David who wrote Psalm 1 that states, “ Blessed is the man whose delight is in the law of the Lord.. He succeeds in all that he does.” It is not just financial prosperity that is implied but all round success or 360 degrees. Success in this world is quite deceptive. We often see a person succeeding in several things only to be swallowed up in one huge failure. It could be a personal indiscretion, a failed relationship, marital breakdown or a business collapse. Mankind is designed for success but programmed for failure. When we accept Christ as our personal Saviour, we begin to place our faith in the Word of God. This act of faith and trust in God’s Word produces obedience, excellence and all round success. “ The Lord was with him” – this implies that there is a continuing presence of God with every believer. Jehovah Shalom is the God of success. So instead of making success our god, mankind should accept Jehovah Shalom, the God of Success for Shalom means success, prosperity, wholeness, peace, salvation, health. He is not just an idea, a chimera but a real Person who knows what our goals and challenges are, what our natural abilities and inclinations are, the gaps between our aims and our efforts. He fills the gaps with His grace and power so that the ‘sin factor’ or ‘ hamartia’ or failure cannot operate. God was with Joseph from his childhood. Joseph pleased Him with his child-like faith, his sense of righteousness and integrity. His eyes, mouth and mind were pure in God’s sight. He won the favour of God first before He could win the favour of earthly masters like Potiphar, the prison officer or Pharoah. God communicated with him through dreams. He held on to his vision of his life. Joseph never complained or murmured against God for the pitfalls he suffered. He just thought that every pitfall was but a pit-stop on the road to his God-given destiny. Jehovah, the Father has great plans for each one of us as we are His children twice over,once by creation and twice by our believing His testimony about His Son Jesus being the Saviour and His first born beloved Son. He communicates His dreams to us through visions triggered by the Holy Spirit as well as through our natural desires and gifting. He leads us step by step to the fulfillment of the vision as He is with us even as He was with Joseph. It will become evident to people around like Joseph’s master that the cause and source of our success or prosperity is supernatural. Prateep V Philip
