Freed from Condemnation, Released to be blessed
UV 608/10,000 Freed from Fear and Guilt
“ Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,”
Romans 8 v 1
The law is a standard measure to judge whether a person is guilty or innocent of any particular offence. The standards of God being absolute and holy, all of us stand condemned on the merit of our lives. Once we come into the new covenant relationship with Jesus Christ, we are freed from being judged under the law of sin of the world and death. Under the provision of grace under the new covenant, there is no condemnation for those of us who are in Christ Jesus. We are now judged under the law of the Spirit of life and love. Under the new dispensation we are judged by the Father about how faithful we have been and how fruitful we have been in our sojourn on earth. We are now judged not for condemnation and punishment but for approbation and reward.
Being in Christ Jesus means trusting His name, believing in His immaculate birth, sinless life, death on the cross and resurrection. Being in Christ means being anointed by the Holy Spirit. Being in Christ means being baptized to identify with His death and resurrection. Being in Christ means walking in faith and living according to His Word. We are now acceptable and pleasing in the eyes of the Father. Now we are expected to not walk after the flesh but after the spirit, implying that we should pursue and give priority to our spiritual life and goals. We are to be spiritually minded.
To be carnally minded means to focus on fulfilling the desires of the flesh. To be spiritually minded means to have the mind of Christ or to focus on fulfilling the desires of the Spirit. When we are spiritually minded, we have life and peace with both God and man. We are freed from the spirit of bondage to fear of death, guilt and punishment. We are now given the spirit of adoption that enables us to enjoy a personal relationship with God. We begin to enjoy our share of our spiritual inheritance as co-heirs of Jesus: life, love, peace, joy and righteousness. Nobody and nothing can rob us of these blessings of the Spirit of God.
