Be the Wick, not the Wicked
UV 662/10,000 Be the Wick, not the Wicked
“ But the Lord laughs at the wicked, for He knows their day is coming.”
The Lord says, “ Be the wick that lights up, not the wicked who try to put it out.” The wicked of the world are allergic to light and truth and will do all they can to put it out. They walk according to their own lights- their own limited thoughts and ideas. They have their own wicked schemes. They plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth in silent, bottled up anger and hatred against them. They will attempt to slay the reputation of the righteous by assassinating their character to rob them of their influence and leadership.
But, the Lord will enable the righteous and the meek to have the last laugh. The wicked will perish in their ways. They will vanish like smoke and like the beauty of fields that disappear in the harvesting season, they will be cut off by the hand of the Lord. The Psalmist says, “ Their swords will pierce their own hearts and their bows will be broken.” The Lord will uphold the meek and righteous. They will inherit the land and the blessings of the Lord. They will endure. They will wait for the justice of the Lord to vindicate them and not seek to avenge themselves, knowing that vengeance is from the Lord.
The USP or “unique saving proposition” of the righteous is that the law of the Lord is in their heart. Therefore, their feet do not slip. They do not fret or worry when the wicked seem to be succeeding in their evil plans and when they seem to flourish like a green tree. Somebody said, “ if you plant a green tree in your heart, the birds will automatically come to nest.” If we plant the green tree of the gospel in our hearts, the birds of justice, of reward, of protection, of provision and of salvation will automatically come to rest in us. Indeed, “the salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord, He is their stronghold in time of trouble.” The righteous hope in the Lord and know for sure that though today might be the day of the wicked, the day of the Lord or the day of judgment will soon overtake them.
