Prime Factor of Life
UV 660/10,000 Prime Factor
“Oh, for the days when I was in my prime, when God’s intimate friendship blessed my house”
Job 29 v 4
Many people talk about the secrets of success and happiness without realizing that these are not secrets but what everyone knows but few apply. But, the secret of being blessed is an intimate friendship with God. To be blessed is to be happy. The internal attributes of what it means to be blessed are enumerated in Mathew chapter 5, in the Sermon on the Mount while the external attributes are enumerated in the first fourteen verses of Deuteronomy chapter 28.
Job pined for the time when his intimacy with the Lord had prospered him and his household. The Lord had put a hedge about him and all that he had on all sides. He blessed the work of his hands and his substance increased. Job was at the prime of his life. Indeed, when we live in intimacy with God, we will be in our prime all our lives. It is said that in heaven, all people are no older than at the prime of their lives. Jesus was crucified at the prime of His life, 33 years in order that the Lord will put a hedge around our lives in all directions and He could bless the work of our hands and increase us in every way, physical, financial, spiritual, emotional, social, intellectual..
In the Lord’s prayer, when we pray, “ deliver us from evil”, we are asking the Lord to remain intimate with us all the time as in the prime of our lives. This is what is meant by “ first love”. Our first love should not become stale. We should increase and not decrease in our intimacy with God. We must teach our generations too to remain best friends with God and warn them that the blessings would leave our house if we fail to do so. A certain family forgot God during the days of their prime. As a result God blew against them in later years at the time of ‘ harvest’, the son kept failing in his examinations, the father lives in adultery and the rest of the family remain in misery. Taking heed, we must pray, “ Lord, do not blow against us but blow your breath of blessing upon us. Be the Light and Lamp upon our head and inside our tabernacle.”
