Walk and Talk
UV 1638/10000 Walk and Talk
And I will strengthen them in the LORD; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the LORD.
Zechariah 10 v 12
The Lord imparts His strength and power to us once we believe in Him and His Word. For we are no longer our own but His and we become His responsibility to safeguard and lead. The imperfect and inadequate leadership of men is replaced by the perfect and all sufficient leadership of the Lord. He strengthens us with His wisdom, righteousness and grace. St Paul who as Saul had only one focus, a negative one at that to exterminate the new faith and the followers of Jesus, was given grace to say, “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.” We develop a sense of omni-competence in Jesus. Jesus demonstrated the many impossible things He could do with ease: healings of all kinds, resurrecting the dead, multiplying the bread and fish, commanding nature to be still and demons to flee. He could teach and preach, prophesy and interpret. In His name, implying of Him, for Him, through Him, to Him, we can do all these things and more for He prophesied, “You shall do greater things than these.”
We might have many “ups” and “downs” in our lives but the Lord promises to be by our side as we walk in faith. He holds our hand each step of the way. When we are weary and feeble in our “down” moments, He renews our strength in amazing ways. In our “up” moments, He warns us to stay humble and depend on His grace. He gives us both insight and hindsight. Like a good coach, He eggs and urges us to keep moving towards the goal of eternal glory. We will not fall short of our goals as we have the Lord to help us at every stage.
Many people interpret that eternal life and its triumphs begin after our death in Christ. But, His glory and power is revealed in earth as in heaven, implying that the Lord rewards the just or those who walk by faith and in the light or truth of His Word not just in heaven but on earth during our long walk with Him. Our intimate relationship with Him and His presence with us is the source of all of our strength, resources, blessings, riches, grace and wisdom. People say, “walk the talk” meaning “ what we speak of or teach or claim, we should demonstrate in action. But, the Lord says, “ Walk and talk.” We walk with Him and talk with Him. As we talk with Him, He gives us strength for the next step in our lives. We talk to Him in prayer and an ongoing internal conversation while He talks with us through the Word and the whispers of the Holy Spirit. His words will strengthen us, guide us, inspire us, motivate us and enable us to walk the whole way.
