The Lord goes ahead of us in all our struggles and pathways as a path-breaker. He clears the way ahead of hurdles and obstacles. No person or combination of forces can stand in His way. The gate is a metaphor for His overarching purpose in our lives as well as a particular stretch of our life journey where we have set ourselves a goal or a desire or a short term objective. Greater is He that is with us than they that are with them. “they” refers to those who oppose us or who criticize us. It also refers to the spiritual forces of darkness. It also could refer to our own self limiting and God limiting beliefs. As king He is sovereign and absolute in His powers and prerogatives. His authority is sufficient to alter our sense and perceptions of the reality. The Lord underwrites or guarantees our success. In His hands, our arriving at our divine destination is certain. He will ensure safe and sure passage for each of us. “The Lord is on the head of them all” is a faith declaration that He anoints us. Change challenges us but challenges change us. He prepares us for both change and challenge. Jim Rohn wrote that “ change is inevitable but growth is intentional.” Growth is God –intended and God-enabled. He intends that we grow to our full potential. He enables us to grow in wisdom, knowledge, understanding, favour and in the fruits of the spirit.
