The Living Temple of God

UV 3212/10000 The Living Temple of God
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you
I Corinthians 3 v 16
We ought to believe, know and understand that we are the temple of the Living God, that the Spirit of God dwells in us. He walks in us and lives in us. Since we have the Living God dwelling in us, we cannot have anything else competing with Him for our attention and our love. We are temples dedicated or consecrated to Him. The sanctum sanctorum of this temple is our hearts and minds. When we entertain a negative or dark thought or motive in our hearts, we are defiling the temple or committing sacrilege. The temple of God is a place of joy, holiness, peace, goodness. Hence, when we worry over worldly things we are destroying the church or temple of God. When we think, speak or do anything unworthy of God, we are likewise defiling the temple.
We are not however a completed temple but a temple in progress. We are being built by the Holy Spirit, the indwelling Spirit of God. The walls are built erect and straight with the help of the plumb line of the Word. The Word gives us the templates or plans or patterns in which we should organise our thoughts, our speech and communication, our actions and behaviour in such a way as to honour the Lord. The principles from the teachings of Jesus and the books of the Bible are the solid foundation on which our temple is built that nothing can shake and no storm can threaten.
Unlike a physical man-made temple, our living temples are open all the time and never closed. As priests and kings of the Lord, we continually offer sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving in the temple, our bodies, minds and spirits. Neither fear, anger, bitterness, sadness or any negative thought or feeling should be allowed to enter or remain in the temple. Our words and our works should be carefully planned and executed so that we honour the Lord in all we say or do. The flag or banner of absolute love and ultimate victory flies over the pinnacle of the temple of our lives.
