Rejoice in the Strength of the Lord and Repent of Our Weaknesses

UV 3321/10000 Rejoice in Strength of the Lord, Repent of Our Weaknesses

Then they will sweep by like the wind and pass on. But they will be held guilty, they and all men whose own power and strength is their god.

Habakuk 1 v 11

Men ought not to worship their own power and strength for eternal strength and power belong only to God Almighty. We are lent a little strength and power for a period of time. God is sovereign and can take it away anytime. Even if we have the strength of a giant, we should not use it like one. We should humble ourselves by being acutely aware of our vulnerabilities- our proneness to sin, lust, pride, deceit. We should not rely on our own strength but ask the Lord for wisdom. Wisdom comes from reverence for the Lord, to be in awe of His strength and power.

We need to rejoice in the Lord or delight in His wisdom, strength and power. We acknowledge that whatever strength we have comes from Him. He gives us grace to overcome, counter and transform our weaknesses into strength. He is strongest when we are weakest for His grace abounds at such times of crisis, failure, loss , sickness, troubles, persecutions. Our power or strength can never save us. He is our confidence and our strength. He lends us the stability of an anchor, the sense of direction of a rudder and the forewarning power of a radar.

The current management thinking that six strengths are enough to ensure a man’s success in life is erroneous. Such thinking asks us to ignore our weaknesses and only play from our strengths. The Word of God corrects such an imbalanced and unreal perspective by asking us to be aware of our vulnerabilities and weaknesses. We need to equally work on developing our inherent strengths and in reducing, eliminating, converting our weaknesses for the word says, “ Cling to what is good, let go of what is evil.” We need to cleave to our natural or God-gifted strengths, use all legitimate power invested with us and leave all evil intentions, plans, methods, habits, actions, thoughts and reactions. We need to rejoice over and over again or without ceasing,in the salvation of the Lord, the hope He gives us in Jesus, the ultimate and eternal victory He gives us. When we do so, the enemy cannot find the chinks in our armour for we are protected from head to feet, teeth to tail by the grace of the Lord.
