Speak to Your Mountains

UV 3529/10000 Speak to Your Mountains

Jesus replied to them, “ I assure you and most solemnly say to you, if you have faith ( personal trust and confidence in Me) and do not doubt or allow yourself to be drawn in two directions, you will not only do what was done  to the fig tree, but even  if you say to this mountain, “ Be taken up and thrown into the sea, “ It will happen (if God wills it).

Matthew 21 v 21

After the first and only “negative miracle” of destruction of a fig tree in response to Jesus’ s words, “ Never again will fruit come from you”,  Jesus speaks the above uni-verse. The tree had flattered to deceive. It was full of leaves but no fruit.  From a distance, it appeared to be full of fruit.  Likewise, if we are full of intentions and good words alone without commensurate actions, we condemn ourselves  like the fig true.   Our good deeds and works, while these do not gain us our salvation that is obtained only by the grace of Jesus, have the power to satisfy the hunger of Jesus.

Jesus told his astonished disciples that they, too, could just speak to something even as large and heavy as a mountain, a metaphor for a huge challenge we may be facing in our lives, and it will do as we command or direct.  The only preconditions are that we should not doubt God, ourselves or be pulled in two opposite directions.  Our words uttered in faith have that effect on our circumstances.  We need to speak to the mountain.   Our words should be in alignment with the word and will of God.

Moses disobeyed Jehovah when instead of speaking to the rock to yield water, he struck the rock with his staff in anger.   The words of a man of faith have even more power than the actions of unbelievers.  It is awesome that once our heart of faith is in alignment with our mouths, the words will act as sharp and powerful life-giving and life-enhancing arrows or bullets.   In the uni-verse, Jesus is emphasizing that just as nothing is impossible for God, nothing is impossible, both positive to create, establish, strengthen as well as negative to cause to perish, to destroy, to overthrow, to overcome, to displace in the spiritual realms.  We only need to speak to our mountains, our problems, our challenges, our difficulties, our obstacles with faith and in the full authority of the Name of Jesus.
