Banking on the Word
UV 896/10,000 Banking on the Word
“And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees
for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.”
Ezekiel 47 v 12
Believers exude the fragrance of the cedar tree and the glory of the lotus in full bloom. As a lotus, our roots stretch into the miry clay of the world with all its evil but we remain detached from the world like the lotus that floats on the water. We are the trees of righteousness in the garden of God, watered by t he river of God’s grace and mercy. Our actions will help to sustain people spiritually and our words will bring healing of hope and hope of healing to people. It is not the money in our banks that will bring blessing and fruitfulness in our lives but the touch of “ the river upon the bank.” We bank on the Word, signifying that we have complete faith or assurance that God is able and willing to fulfil every promise spoken to us, that He will meet our every need, present, future and eternal.
We will never be tired of bearing fruit for the glory of God. The significance of our message of hope and healing to the nations will never fade or loose significance or importance or meaning. We will bear fruit of different kinds in our character, our spirit, our gifts, our ministry, our professions, our thought life, our families. We will bear witness of God and His provision for our salvation in season and out of season like an evergreen tree. Like the tree of eternal life in paradise written about in the book of Revelation, we will bear a different fruit or bring a different positive result in every month of the year or in every season of our lives. We need to grow and glow. The words, “ new fruit” means that there should be no staleness or lack of excitement or interest in our relationship with the Father. We are new creatures, renewed in His image. We are to die to our old selves like the bark of a tree peels off and live for God.
The “waters that issued out of the sanctuary” implies the Word of God whose source is the sanctuary or Heaven itself irrigates and sanctifies our minds and imagination. A sanctified imagination works for the glorification of God. New ideas and solutions for the world’s problems will spring from our minds for the benefit of people. Belief brings relief. When we by our lives and our words induce belief in others we bring relief or healing to them. When I was young we used to read a serial in a magazine called, “ Laughter is the best medicine.” But truth be told, meditation on the Word of God is the best medicine. The expression “ the fruit thereof shall be for meat” implies that our lives will be marked with substantive achievements and breakthroughs in different areas of our lives for the greater glory of God. “ The fruit shall not be consumed” implies that the Word is an inexhaustible treasure house of blessings and wisdom for our lives.
