UV 1056/10,000 The Heirs of the Righteous
They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the Lord, they and their descendants with them.
Isaiah 65 v 23
When we are walking in faith and fellowship with the Lord, we will not labour in vain. We will enjoy the fruit of our labour. We will live in the houses we built and eat the fruit of the vineyard we planted. We will enjoy the wholesome blessings of Shalom, of joy, peace, prosperity, health, love, wholesomeness, well being and grace. The eyes of the Lord will be upon our walls and His angels will surround our homes. He will be our fencing, fortress and strong tower.
Many people in this age and time are worried whether their children would be worthy heirs or whether they would land in great trouble and bring trouble upon them in their old age. Yet when we are blessed by the Lord, the children He has given us will not be taken into captivity by the enemy of the human soul. They will not be children who bring trouble to us but all who see them will know that they are blessed of the Lord. The God who created heaven and earth will bless them with increase in due time and measure. They will grow in wisdom, stature, gifting and in spiritual and social favour. When Isaac, the son of Abraham planted the Lord gave him a hundred fold increase in his crops. Like Isaac, our children will uncover old wells that have been filled in by the enemy, meaning that they will discover new blessings and renew old ones. The Lord Himself promises to be their teacher and guide and to give them great peace or Shalom. Instead of increasing our burden for our children and their future, give them back into adoption by the Lord. We should recognize that we are temporary and inadequate guardians for them.
When we bring up our children in the fear of the Lord and in obedience to His Word and to trust in His promises, they become heirs like Isaac to all the blessings bestowed by Jehovah on Abraham under the old covenant. When we bring them up also in the love of the Lord Jesus, they also inherit the blessings of the new covenant enumerated by Jesus in Matthew chapter 5, the sermon on the Mount. The baton of faith will also be passed on by them to their descendants. Compared to the patriarchs of faith like Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, we have a double portion of blessings, the blessings of the Old Covenant as well as the blessings of the New covenant relationship.
The leadership and management concept derived from this uni-verse is that we need not worry about our succession plan or our legacy. The principles that flow from this concept is that 1.) we submit and surrender our children to the Lord 2.) we trust the Lord to do the best for them The practical steps to translate these principles into practice are: 1. ) thank the Lord for the amazing grace and peace He gives us and our children at least a couple of times every day 2.) quit agonizing or worrying about the details of their future 3.) Enjoy what the Lord has given into our hands today, here and now. We should not let our anxiety about the future rob us of the peace, joy and harmony of the present.
