Renewing Our Rivers

UV 640/10,000 Ecc 1:7 All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again. This morning again as I cycled to the sea to watch the sun rise in its glory over the water, the Lord reminded me of His power and grace. I said to myself, “ From the rising of the sun to its setting, His Name shall be praised.” From the time we wake up till the time we sleep, we must continually recollect His praise. From our childhood till our death, we need to worship Him. Geographically, from the coasts of Japan to the shores of California, His deeds need to be praised. The Lord is like the sea and each of us is like the river. We need to empty ourselves into the sea. It is written that in the last days, the earth will be so full of the knowledge of the Word as the sea is full of water. Our lives are but an elaborate exercise to explore the dynamics of the Word playing out in our lives. Each uni-verse is a wave that rises and falls in our lives, now displaying its energy and power and now, subsiding back below the surface. At the times, when there is a lull in the sea and the wind ceases, we must not think that the Lord has withdrawn His grace and mercy. But, it only subsides to rise again. Our prayers rise to the Lord like the water evaporates from the sea’s surface and comes down as a rain of blessings to renew the rivers, our lives. As Jesus said, “rivers of life-giving water will flow from our hearts”- of faith, hope and confidence, of love , joy and peace, of praise, worship and thanksgiving. The different aspects of our lives are like tributaries of a great river system. We bring tribute to the Lord for His attributes. Prateep V Philip
